One of my many God children (sorry let me go off on a tangent for a moment speaking about God children, I have 9 God children and I’m wondering why my friends and family made me the God Mother to their children? I’m poor, I mean really broke and ornery and god forbid they go somewhere as a group because I’ll be screwed. I live in a one bedroom condo, where would I put them all? What were they thinking)
Again, back to what I wanted to talk about….. one of my God children who is adopted along with his twin sister and raised by his single parent mother is staying with me for a week so I can help get him back on track with his Mom. I’ve talked to him about his body since he does not have a man to talk to, at least not one who he can be comfortable with. About 6 months ago, we talked about things like his testicles dropping and his underwear not being too tight (he switched to boxers) and how his body will be changing over the next couple years (he is 12). I showed him a timeline on the internet (great invention).
Well last night he informed me as he was getting into the shower that I was right his balls have dropped and he had his first wet dream. Well alrighty then! All I could say to him was thank you for sharing that with me now take your shower. As he was getting in the shower he spoke about maybe finding a couple of hairs and it took everything in me not to lose myself in laughter, out of embarrassment for myself and just plain ole nervousness of dealing with a subject that can be delicate at best.
Suddenly I had an epiphany that I’m helping mold a man for a woman of the future and I could be responsible for the type of man he grows to be. So when he was through with the rituals I taught him (deodorant, moisturizer and powder) we talked and I decided to pay attention because my conversations with this man child may be the answer to life long questions about men and some of the things they do and why they do them.
I paid attention and heard a few answers. I will continue listen and learn from my child instructor so I can utilize these tools in the future and I will groom and guide this man child into a young man that will do right by women, all women.
